mobility programme to support the young creators from 18 to 25 on the European art scene

presented by the
Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes

The Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes launch the 6th artists in context programme. Developed in the framework of the European Voluntary Service, this mobility programme is created for young creators who invent new forms of artistic expression in the relation to others.

For this 6th edition the artists in context programme intends conjugating artistic excellence and creative innovation by inviting the artists to commit themselves in an ambitious project:
•    in established institutions like the Compagnie Songes, involved in the Dance Biennale of Lyon in France, or like Raumars in Finland or the Hotel Mariakapel in the Netherlands;
•    inside young art centres in Malta, Slovenia or Slovakia, current drives of contemporary creation in their countries;
•    in creation sites far from the usual circuits, offering new fields of experience to discover.

In these unexpected locations where authentic human relations can be experienced, the young artists are expected to find possible new forms of artistic commitment.

17 young European artists for

14 creation sites in

10 European countries

Sir, Madam

As you may already know, the first European Research & Innovation Exhibition was held in June 2005 in Paris and met with resounding success, both with our 130 or so exhibitors (The European Commission and cordis.europa.eu.int, The French Ministry of Research and the associated French research centres, the Eureka network, France Telecom, Veolia Environment, Siemens, the Ecole Centrale network of engineering schools, universities, etc …) and with our 24 000 visitors from all walks of life and of all ages.

The 2nd edition of the European Research & Innovation Exhibition will take place over four days from 8 to 11 June 2006.

Our sales team ) is at your service to examine with you the advantages of participating in the exhibition. You will be able to demonstrate your involvement in research, find partners at all stages of your projects, take advantage of wide media cover to publicise the results of your research and recruit the brightest young scientists, researchers and engineers.  You will have a better chance of picking up these challenges and others if you join us at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre from 8 to 11 June 2006.

To ensure that the exhibition is a success and in order to meet the expectations of our visitors, we are constantly seeking to develop exchanges of internet links with other sites associated with the world of research, innovation and the environment, as a way of encouraging increasing numbers of web-users to visit our website, sign up to receive regular news updates about the exhibition and express their vision and expectations in this field. We are therefore suggesting that you reference our website on your own website. If your activity is related to the world of science, research, innovation or the environment, we can also provide a reciprocal exchange of links on our website.

We hereby invite you to find out more about the European Research & Innovation Exhibition by clicking on our website.

We look forward to hearing from you by e-mail or telephone.

Yours sincerely,

PROJECT: Advertising posters: a european heritage to be discovered
COUNTRY: Italy
DESCRIPTION: the municipal administration of Treviso (Italy) intends to partecipate in the Culture 2007 Programme submitting, as main organiser, a multiannual project on cataloguing, preservation, valorization and dissemination of advertising poster collections. The finally selected project will be financed by the same European Commission for the 50% of its total budget.
The municipal Museums of Treviso keep a state property collection consisting in around 30.000 advertising posters. It is the most important and exhaustive collection on the italian scene, comprehending works of almost all the “great of poster designing, from the end of XIXth century to the first sixty years of the XXth century, such as Dudovich, Mauzan, Cappiello, Boccasile, Chéret, Mucha, Toulouse-Lautrec, Van der Velde, Kokoscha, etc.
To partecipate in the european call for proposal we are looking for co-organisers interested in sharing the below listed objectives.

Project aims and expected results
1) identification of standard criteria in order to draw up a european
cataloguing file card concerning advertising graphic materials
2) comparison of technical experiences and working out of methodological
guidelines for restoration works
3) exchange of “good practices, circulation of news and scientific
outcomes, also using technologically advanced instruments
4) creation of three-year workshops and of a forum in order to debate and
deeply investigate the above mentioned scientific and methodological themes
5) dissemination and spreading of the achieved results by means of
seminars, round-table discussions and educational activities
6) organisation of an exhibition (by each co-organiser), consisting in
posters coming from the co-organisers’ collections
7) creation of a web databank containing the photographic reproductions of
a part of the collected posters as well as the relating cataloguing file cards
Foreseen activities and schedule
The hypothetical work plan will last three years
First year: problem study and proposal of standardized solutions
Definition of the scientific profile of the collections owned/kept by all participants. Creation of workshops to compare the methodologies adopted by each one in order to upkeep, catalogue, preserve and restore one’s poster collection.
Proposal, by each participant, of common guidelines concerning cataloguing and restoration methods, upkeeping and exhibition criteria, collection development and increase, educational activities.
Creation of a computer forum to exchange information and experiences among all participants.
Drawing up of a prototype of a computer cataloguing file card.
Dissemination and sharing of study results - deriving from the exchange of good practices and from emerging proposals - with prospective european and international subjects interested in the matter ((Preservation institutes, Universities, Training schools, Restoration schools, Researchers, etc.) Creation, by the main organizer, of a web site containing a discussion forum and the experimental databank to be started off during the second year.
Drawing up of the final computer cataloguing file card.
Second year – Experimentation
Continuation of dissemination and sharing of study results - deriving from the exchange of good practices and from emerging proposals - with prospective european and international subjects interested in the matter ((Preservation institutes, Universities, Training schools, Restoration schools, Researchers, etc.) Experimental creation of computer prototypes of cataloguing file cards, starting from the study carried out during the first (preliminary) stage, Input, by each partner, into the web site (purpose made and started off by the main organiser), of a sufficiently representative number of file cards relating to one’s poster collection.
Processing of the results deriving from the cataloguing experimental actions and their sharing and dissemination among the partners.
Third year – dissemination
Continuation of dissemination and sharing of study results - deriving from the exchange of good practices and from emerging proposals - with prospective european and international subjects interested in the matter ((Preservation institutes, Universities, Training schools, Restoration schools, Researchers, etc.) To promote the circulation of the results achieved during the first and second stage, the web databank will be increased, to allow each partner to insert the most sizeable part of his collection. The web databank will be available for consultation by everybody.
To involve the largest public, especially the education world, and to promote the great cultural significance, as well as the artistic, historical and economic value of this advertising graphic heritage, an exhibition of posters will be organised on a specific theme (to be
defined) by each co-organiser. This will also serve as a final check of the activities carried out during the previous project stages.
A closing round table discussion will also be organised in order to illustrate and disseminate the scientific and technical results reached by the different work groups.

With reference to the above mentioned objectives, we kindly ask you to let us know if you are interested in this project.
